Representative Program

The Canberra Dolphins name has a proud history in the ACT, with it not only being the name of one of the territory's earliest clubs, but also as the National League team name which participated in the National Water Polo League between 1991 and 2006. During that time, a number of players participating in the team went on to experience success at the national and international levels, including Daniel Marsden, Trent Birkett, and John Fox. In fact the Canberra Dolphins/ACT Senior Men are the current defending silver medalist in the Open Men's State Team National Championships with NSW holding the title and Western Australia third - a proud record indeed!

Water Polo ACT's representative teams have a long history of success, including taking out numerous Australian Country Championship crowns. Furthermore, our junior teams compete at Water Polo Australia's Youth Water Polo Championships and National State Championships annually.

ACT Representative Policy - NSW club team players

Water Polo ACT recognises and encourages ACT-based players to develop their skills through pathways to Sydney metro clubs. However, for these players, their first obligation is to the ACT.

As such, players registered and predominately based in the ACT to only play for NSW clubs when WPACT does not enter teams to a specific competition or alternatively a specific release is granted by WPACT.
